SHHAN is an artist building Nullwood, a visual universe shaped through black cats, memory, life, death, and return.

In his work, the cat is not simply an animal or character. It becomes a symbolic mediator between beginnings and endings, the living and the dead, memory and disappearance. Through this motif, SHHAN explores the cyclical nature of existence, reincarnation, and the quiet transformations that occur between loss and return.

Nullwood serves as the central world in which these ideas continue to expand. It is both a fictional universe and an evolving artistic framework, where characters, landscapes, relics, plants, and unknown beings gradually form a larger visual mythology.

SHHAN’s visual language is influenced by Japanese animation, video games, Hong Kong cinema, American comics, and digital culture from the 1990s and 2000s. These influences are reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, creating images that feel familiar, uncanny, and emotionally resonant.

His practice moves between illustration, character design, digital art, visual storytelling, and worldbuilding. Through Nullwood, SHHAN continues to build a symbolic world that reflects on life, death, memory, and the forms we take as we return.
